John Burns is the Prime/General Contractor for Verizon in performing fiber optic cable underground infrastructure engineering, design, permitting, construction fiber optic installation, splicing and testing. The majority of the various telecommunication projects take place in the City of Chicago. These projects require close coordination with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Verizon Wireless and Verizon Business and other utility owners to ensure the projects are completed on-time and the safety of the traveling public is maintained. These projects require very careful excavation in complex work environments to not damage any existing facilities as well as expand Verizon’s fiber network.

• Engineering, design, and permitting to complete underground and aerial fiber optic cable installations for Verizon
• Complete all underground construction via open cut trenching and directional boring to place new fiber optic conduits in the City of Chicago
• Complete aerial and underground fiber optic cable installation, splicing, and testing
• Complete all concrete and asphalt restoration per City of Chicago requirements
• Complete GIS design, approvals, and closeout packages for sites added to Verizon’s network
