CTA Belmont Crossover and Track Replacement

John Burns removed and replaced the aging diamond crossover track and eight expansion gaps in the CTA Blue Line’s Kimball Subway. The work, completed over nine 54-hour weekend shutdowns with full service restored after each, required meticulous planning to minimize disruptions. This critical upgrade, including the replacement of the original 50-year-old Belmont crossover, supports increased ridership and ensures continued reliable service on one of the CTA’s busiest lines.

• Installation of new diamond crossover track.
