Telecom Experience
From 1990 to date, John Burns has installed over 1,500 miles of underground conduit, fiber optic cable, and aerial fiber optic cable via open-cut trenching, directional boring, plowing, and rail plowing for virtually every telecommunications company. John Burns has an extensive customer list and some of our clients over the past five years include: Crown Castle, T-Mobile, SAC Wireless, MasTec, Mobilite, AT&T-Mobility, AT&T-Wireline, WOW!, Bechtel, Ericsson, Extenet, Ledcor, Level 3, Lighttower, Zayo, Chicago Department of Transportation, Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, and numerous private customers throughout Chicagoland.

John Burns has been leading the Telecommunications construction industry since the early 1990s in installing telecom infrastructures throughout major US cities. John Burns continues to be a key player in the ever-changing telecommunications world and has extensive experience with wireless installations.
Since 2009, John Burns has been performing turnkey construction services for IDAS and Small Cell installations throughout the City of Chicago for many of their clients. John Burns provides all construction services required for Small Cell installations onto traffic and lighting poles as well as IDAS and Hybrid IDAS installations. John Burns self-performs all the construction work including replacing foundations and poles as needed as well as trenching and getting fiber and power to IDAS and Small Cell sites. John Burns has proven to be a critical partner in successfully installing IDAS and Small Cell equipment.

Small Cell Experience
John Burns has been constructing Small Cell & DAS systems since 2008, and to-date has installed over 1,000 small cell nodes in the Chicago, Milwaukee and Dallas metropolitan areas. Our small cell construction expertise includes underground conduit, aerial fiber/power, new foundations/poles & RF equipment install, PIM & Sweep testing, and commissioning and integration (C&I). Our customers have included all four major wireless carriers and virtually every wireless turf vendor, totaling over $100,000,000 in contract value to date. Virtually every project has been completed on schedule and under budget, with most being in tough environments like downtown Chicago & Milwaukee.
