John Burns performs as Prime/General Contractor on the installation of medium voltage ductbank and cable in the City of Chicago’s Jackson Park for the Chicago Park District. This project was completed in an active Chicago Park District Park, while maintaining safe park access. Completion of this project was on the critical path for the Park District to turnover property to the Obama Presidential Center site by December 2021.
Scope of Work
- Installed 4,000 LF of concrete reinforced ductbank and 22 new manholes to facilitate installation of new 5kV cable.
- Installed new switchgear and cutover all existing CPD Facilities in Jackson Park to the newly installed system.
- Removed 20,000 LF of existing primary lead cable in conflict with proposed Obama Presidential Center (OPC) construction.
- John Burns managed subcontractors to install a new lift station and construct a force sanitary main to re-route existing sanitary lines from the OPC as well.
